There is good news all round for people who want to get internet savvy and for anyone who wants to access the internet for free at their local library.
The Get Online Reading project is pleased to announce sponsorship from Microsoft for 2016-17. Microsoft has its UK headquarters in Thames Valley Park.
Get Online Reading sessions are held at libraries and other community venues around Reading. People can bring along their own computer, tablet or smartphone, or use the library’s computer equipment, which benefited from a major upgrade in 2015, or laptops supplied at community venues.
Cllr Paul Gittings, Reading Lead Member for Culture, Sport and Consumer Services, said: “This is great news for residents. RVA digital volunteers do a fantastic job encouraging people to access the internet. The hard work to secure the funding for this project is a good example of successful joint working between the council and its voluntary sector partners.”
