Computers and curry in East Reading

There is now an opportunity to learn how to get online and enjoy a tasty meal afterwards!   The Get Online Reading project has joined forces with the Sangam Lunch Club near Cemetery Junction to offer help to the people of East Reading.  The lunch club has been held on Fridays since 2008, and offers a chance to get together over an Indian vegetarian meal.  The suggested donation for the meal is £4.

Sessions began on Friday 3 July starting at 11.00am at the Warehouse, 1A Cumberland Road, Reading RG1 3LB (behind Wycliffe Baptist Church), followed by lunch from around 12.30, and further sessions are planned on alternate Fridays.  Users who already have a computer or mobile device and would like help are invited to bring them along – and for those that do not have anything of their own there will be a couple of laptops provided.  There is usually at least one volunteer at the sessions that speaks Hindi.

The first few sessions have been busy and we need more volunteers to help us keep up!  After the summer break sessions have restarted fortnightly from 18 September.  If you are interested in helping please contact me by email at david.neale@rva.org.uk
